Stage 9 - Harrodsburg KY, 50mi (80km)

The Appalachians may be behind me but there was still plenty of climbing today. It was a beautiful ride of 50mi (80km), a few more than it should have been, thanks to faulty navigation in Berea. The road was smooth, the traffic light, the sky blue and the foliage green with a lush green summer meadow.

My picture of the day

Perfect cycling with a gusty head wind towards the end though! There were 4 half-hearted dog chases but still annoying.

I want to use some time this afternoon or evening to plan my stops for the next few days. The weather forecast for tomorrow is going to be sunny but chilly and windy. As of Tuesday some hot weather has been announced with temperatures in the high 80’s. I am looking forward to it.

Decorated barns are a feature of this area

  1. Pierre, you are doing very well, your blog is entertaining and informative. By now you have been tested and hardened by the weather Gods. Even though you still have some serious challanges in the distance you will be able to deal with them. Keep up the good work and stay safe, take it easy but take it, Hubert
