This morning at
7AM we had a fantastic breakfast made by Janice. Although at this time in the
morning I am not a big eater, today I was a hungry though. Afterwards Norma and
I headed off to Eureka and my fifth map sections begins. The route today
zigzagged alternately west and north across the grid pattern of Kansas’ roads.
Picture of the day! |
The terrain was rolling rather than flat, the hills still being substantial
enough to make me drop down a few gears to get up them. However, we were very
fortunate today, riding with a tale wind blowing SE, which gave us a boost on 90%
of today’s stage.
Maurice |
Tyler & Codi |
Today we crossed three East bounders, Tyler and Codi from San
Francisco and a view mile behind Maurice from the UK. It is always a good
opportunity to share experiences as well as to stop for a couple of minutes
before taking on the ride again.
The last 19mi towards Eureka took us only 70
minutes – it was a blast and great coasting! So we reached Eureka in good time
to check in to a motel, shower, change, and head over to Pizza Hut for Chicken
Alfredo, since cyclists need food for fuel and eat enormous quantities…
