Stage 33 - Colter Bay Village WY, 65mi (105km)

I had a great breakfast at the Restaurant, which belonged to the Wind River Motel. The daylight donuts are well known and freshly made every day - a real delight. I already had two of them yesterday and I was looking forward for my third one, a strawberry donut, this morning. But first I had Hash brown with two eggs made over easy and toast with coffee and orange juce.

At 8AM I took off for todays ride, it was a beautiful morning, my legs felt a bit tired and I found the cycling hard work.

The climb wasn't steep but it was long, 30mi (48km) from Dubois to the summit of the pass and my fifth crossing of the continental divide. Togwotee Pass (pronounced 'toe-go-tee') is 9’657 feet (2’944m) above sea level. What a relief when I reached the summit and then I started down the other side.

After a while, the breathtakingly beautiful snow-capped line of the Grand Teton Range came into view. I stopped many times to take a photo.

The ride towards Colter Bay was easy and relaxing and I felt stronger again in my legs.
On my way I met Francesca, an East bounder and first solo female cyclist I have met so far – impressive!

And then, just a mile later, I stopped to take a picture at the Grand Teton Park National Park sign, where I also met Ronny and Jeanne. We had a nice brief chat about this and that – it is always a big pleasure to meet people.

5mi before Colter Bay Village I came to a 2mi stretch of road works. Cyclists are their bikes are transported in a pilot truck.

Soon after I reached Colter Bay Village, where I checked in at cabin 221. There was no WIFI available and as it had been such a wonderful and sunny day, I took the opportunity to do some laundry, enjoyed an Ice Cream and just relaxed on a bench at the boarder of Jackson Lake.
